Blindness Book CoverWhich sense is most important to us?  This week’s Wen’s Day reflection has me thinking about the book I’m reading – Blindness, by Jose Saramago.  They say your eyes are like the windows into your soul, so I suppose its appropriate for my weekly reflection.  I don’t usually read books that have been made into movies (unless it was after I read it), but this one seemed so intriguing that I just had to.

Karim the Awesome Egyptian Tour GuideI’ll never forget Hatshepsut.

With all the media surrounding Egypt these days, I think back to when I first learned about Egypt’s history first hand at the National Egyptian Museum in Cairo.  There, a friendly tour guide named Karim offered his services, as well as his phonetic way to say complicated Egyptian names – like “Hot Chicken Soup” for Hatshepsut.
