After returning from my volunteer trip to Nicaragua, I wanted to do something more enduring for the people I helped.
One of the places I was at was a school for physically and mentally challenged individuals called NTP (Nosotros Tambien Podemos – Spanish for “We can do it too”). There, they really push the kids to learn life skills so they can eventually support themselves (by the way, I say kids, but they’re anywhere from 10-25 years old). Some of them make hammocks, some of them make jewelry, and others make boxes or keep the store clean.
I really like that self-sustaining attitude and decided to help them increase sales by bringing their inventory online. It’s still a work in progress, but I hope eventually to not just help NTP, but all other charities in developing worlds who might want to sell their goods online to support their own cause.
